What is Parents Council?

Parents Council is the name given to a school group whose function is to organise parental support for the school and to advise the Board of Governors on different matters.

Who are members of Parents Council?

Every adult who has a child enrolled at the school is automatically a member of Parents Council. The Council also includes the School Principal, who attends all meetings.

What is the Parents Council Committee?

The Parents Council Committee is a group of Parents Council members who organise events on behalf the Parents Council / School and co-ordinate queries and information transfer between the school and Parents Council. Events which the Committee organise and assistance which the Committee provide to the school is wide ranging and includes:-

  • Fundraising events ( eg School BBQ / Fun Day, School Disco )
  • Parent Information Evenings (eg Curriculum Evenings )
  • Assistance at school events ( eg Harvest Service, Carol Service, Christmas Play, End of Term Fun Days, School Opening Evening, P7 Leavers Assembly )

The Millennium Parents Council Committee is currently made up of the following parents:-

Who can become a member of the Parents Council Committee?

Any Parents Council member (ie any adult with a child who attends the school) may join the Parents Council Committee. New Committee members are always welcome and if any parents would like to join the Committee they should contact a current Committee member or Mr Corrigan.

When and where does the Parents Council Committee meet?

The Parents Council Committee usually meets at the school once a month during the school term. This year’s meeting dates are:

  • 15 January 2019
  • 12 February 2019
  • 12 March 2019
  • 9 April 2019
  • 14 May 2019
  • 11 June 2019

All meetings start at 6.30 pm in the Library.

Ideas and Questions

If any parents have ideas for future fund raising events / future parent information evenings which they would like conveyed to the School Principal / Board of Governors then please contact any Parents Council Committee member.
